Special note to our puppy parents:
It is advisable only to show a puppy a few times, at carefully selected shows, with spacious outdoor venues and gentle, kindly judges, and preferably not all until at least nine months old. Dog shows are a very stressful experience, even for the bravest puppy, and stress is most detrimental to the growth of an Irish Wolfhound. It is worth noting that very few winning puppies ever become top winning adults most disappear without a trace. Senior breeders often wait to introduce young hounds to the show ring until they finish growing at around 13-14 months old.
Waiting until this age before showing will also help to prevent the dog becoming bored and jaded before reaching its prime the time when you want the hound to look proud and alert in the show ring, rather than three-quarters asleep. Remember that Irish Wolfhounds are usually at their best between two-and-a-half and five years old, so this is the time seriously to campaign your hound, who will then be physically and mentally mature and in top condition.

Rohan Irish Wolfounds would prefer that you wait to seriously show until your puppy is 12 months old, but are not opposed to the odd show between 6-12 months, just don't over do it.
