Beautiful Wolfhounds.  We eventually want to get a puppy but are not sure when. I used to own and show wolfhounds in Arizona in the '70s and became a wolfhound lover for life.

Great site and excellent pictures.

This is my 1st visit to your website.  Great job.  A lot of great information.   I live in Illinois with my 2 yr old wolfhound, Duncan.  He is my 1st and is the love of my life (next to my husband of course).  Duncan has taught me so much more about living than I will ever be able to teach him.  In one more month we will be bringing home a wolfhound baby sister. (she'll be 9 weeks old).   I know he'll be the best big brother ever.

Duncan, as is my husband, is from Texas.  My sister lives in Florida, maybe we'll be able to visit one day.

On July 17th of this year I lost my Goliath.  He was a 13 year old IW mix and the hound of my heart.  I ache to have another wolfhound, but with 3 other dogs...one is 16 years old and the other two are special needs collies...I just can't do it yet.  While I don't want to lose the babies I have, my thoughts are centered on the day I can have just one dog...a pure bred Irish Wolfhound.  I love your site and the loads of information it contains.  I never thought about having to restrict activity in a large breed puppy.  How stupid of me.  One day you will hear from me and I will be ready for the next cu mo chroi.  Until then, bless you and your hounds and your love of this incredible hound.

Hi!

My name is Larry Herndon and I had to have my last Wolfhound "Maggie" put down at 3 1/2 years of age the week before Thanksgiving. Needless to say, the world does not turn the same anymore. She had massive lymphoma internally, mainly in her liver. After blood work, ultrasound and biopsies, they gave her 7 to 10 days without Chemo and at most 3 months with Chemo. After a second opinion, I had her put to sleep, holding her in my arms.

My wife and I have been retired for over 2 years, and Maggie never was away from us for more than 5 hours in the last 2 + years. She was our last of 5 wolfhounds and with no one here to help the hurt, it's been very hard. We always had 2 before but had not acquired another which we usually do when the youngest turns about 5. All of the others lived 9 1/2 to 12 years and this was very fast and unexpected. She just started losing weight and then quit eating altogether. (175# to 155#'s in less than 5 weeks.)

We are not ready for another yet, but someday in the future we will start planning. I had just read over your site and it made me happy and sad to see and read your info. It is a great web page. (Sadly I only have dial-up and it is a chore to use because it's so slow.)

Thank you for your web site. It helps!

Larry & Bridget Herndon

PS I am like your husband in that I could never consider owning anything but a Wolfhound.

Rohan Irish Wolfhounds send you lots of love, and are so sorry for your loss.  Every wolfhound has a place in our hearts, and we know that every Irish Wolfhound lover feels your loss too, so be assured you are not alone at this sad time.

I have read your site for sometime now and always enjoy each and every addition and update.  Thought the I would send you a picture of our three IW children......

Wonderful site. Very informative and answered the questions I had on the Irish Wolfhound.  Would definitely like to look further into being formally adopted by one of these beautiful creatures.   I also checked out your stable site. I was curious to know how the IW would do with horses.  Then saw the link to the stable and checked it out to see what breed of horses you had.  I was amazed when I saw it was Peruvian Paso.  I have Paso Finos myself.
Thank-you for such a wonderful site.  Luci MacDonald South Carolina

Hello to you all in sunny Florida!

What a lovely site you have on the net! With my first Wolfhound puppy, now just 17weeks old, I am forever surfing the internet for all and everything about those wonderful creatures and so I came upon your site. I live in Switzerland and my IRAM comes from a well known breeder couple in Germany. I will go back to your site until I have read it all…..Please let me know what CD you took that lovingly haunting music from, I would appreciate that very much.!

All the best to you all from Switzerland!

Eva Rudin-Metz

I have honestly have never ever seen an Irish wolf hound.  I was leaving a store and saw a lady walking these two dogs and I honestly thought it was a lion or something.  When she got closer I had to know and she told me. They are the most loveable and beautiful.  When I eventually can afford to own a home  with a large yard, I will own one.  I want to mention that you have a very nice website on the dogs and they are beautiful. And it is nice that you have this for people to share with you.                    Sincerely Terra*Canton, OHIO*

Hi Helen,

I love your website.  I can’t wait to get my first IW!  I am doing lots of research and looking for a vet with experience with the breed.  I found your site to be most informative.  Thanks for all of your work and dedication.

Hi, Just wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed your website. Learned a whole lot too! We brought our Irish Wolfhound puppy home today and we are SO excited... We named him Sebastian, he is 8 weeks old and just TOO cute!!! He is just the best !!!! Thank you for all your information, it was really helpful. I am sure I will check back often.

Iris Baker, Nashville, TN

You have a very nice website.  It is very helpful to new wolfhound parents.  I love the pictures and appreciate the recipes.

We are in Minnesota.  Sally is our first IW.  She is 14 months old.  It has been an adventure every day with her.  We plan to have an IW puppy join us in April.  I am a little nervous about introducing the 20+ pounds to the 130# still puppy.  Your pictures with Arwen and the big hounds ease my mind!

Thanks, Linda

Good Morning:  What a wonderful website you have!  We have two Irish Wolfhounds and live not too far from Toronto Canada near Peterborough Ontario.  I found your site to be very informative and refreshing.  You obviously take great pride and care in your IW's.  If I am ever down your way I would love to stop in for a visit,

Liz Brown

Thoroughly enjoyed your website!  The Irish Wolfhound has always been a favorite of ours.  Unfortunately, as we get older (and, more infirm, i.e. bad knees!), owning a large dog may not be a possibility.  However, we discovered that Pembroke Welsh Corgis are a reasonable substitute.  They think and act like large dogs…but, now don’t let this get out…they are small in stature.  We’re into our second ownership of two delightful ‘fairy dogs’.  Hopefully, we’ll find an I.W. at our local dog park one day and perhaps our Tate and Caper will have a field day herding that beautiful prince.  Thanks again for your site…will visit often to see what’s new.

Very nice web site,
Thank you,  Linda Troupe

Hello Balin and Kili

Can't wait to be the proud mom to one of your babies, good luck with the breeding, keep in touch, we are all so excited!!!  We'll keep checking the website for news.

Helen,

After years of yearning and searching, I have just got my first wolfhound, Charlee.  What a sweetheart!  She's a 2 year old, and the kindest, most gentle soul.  I absolutely adore her!

I have checked out your website and enjoyed it tremendously!  Thank you for the information you have provided.

Sincerely, Carlette Jones

Hi :  My name is Diana Vreeken - Portsmouth VA.  My I.W. name is Finnagin. Born Feb 24 2004.  Yes he is still a puppy, a growing puppy.
I just want you to know that I entered into your web-site today for the first time and loved it.  You have some great shots of your dogs.  I printed out the recipes for Finn.  I know he'll love them.  Come to think of it, he doesn't say no to any food.
Just one quick question.  Do you show your dogs? I love to go to a specialty but do not how to find one.  I am really new to this showing and I am still learning the ropes.
Thank you for a great web-site and for your help.

Hello,
First of all, your dogs are BEAUTIFUL!  I love this site, and love reading about how much these dogs are a part of your lives.

So, about a year and a half ago, a little puppy ran up to our house and behind some bushes and cried and cried.  My boyfriend and I went outside and when he squatted down, she ran right to him and cried.  We brought her inside and she was very skinny, you could see her ribs and she was VERY timid.  She would hide underneath furniture and not come out.  We put her in the screened-in front porch in the morning before we left for work, but left the door propped open, as we were not sure if she was just lost.  When we got home from work, she was still there, underneath the plant stand.  Needless to say, after many efforts of trying to find her owner, we decided to keep her.  I am writing because I am amazed how much she looks like an Irish Wolfhound and would like to send you a picture just for the fun of it to see if you agree.  She is adorable and reminds me of Kili very much.  Although I know she could not be purebred since she is only about 25 inches tall and weighs approx 40 lbs., I would swear she is a "runt"!  So if you don't mind I am going to scan one of her pictures to show you. Just as soon as I get one, I will forward to you, hope you think she is as much of a character as we do!!  :)

Thank You,
Lisa A Schmitt

Looking forward to seeing her photo........... Balin

Thoroughly enjoyed your website! I will visit again soon… in the meantime, please let me introduce my darling little girl, Fiona Colleen. She is 18 weeks old and adorable. As you can see, she is not fond of rain..so she wants her rain gear on to go outside.

Jean

Forgot to tell you that Fiona lives in  Central Illinois!
Jean again!

Hi Helen, I just stopped by to see your web site, it is so much fun!  I love all the pictures and information.  You have really done a lovely job.  I'll be making many more trips...to much to view in one go.

See you around Dade City!

Yvonne (Suanne's friend)

I was just on your IW page, what a great resource for Irish Wolfhound info.!  My wife and I are the proud new parents of a "Dixie-dog", born in late July from the "Sir & Singer" litter. (We are going to get him Saturday- Sunstags Taranis) This is our 1st IW and your site proved to be a great read!
Just wanted to say howdy and thanks for putting up a great page on the breed- I tried to sign the guestbook but honestly did not see how.
Take care and thanks again,
The Gibson Family, San Diego, CA.

Hi Kili & Balin, I see that your Mum & Dad are looking after you very well, I like the pictures of you both. I understand you will be bred in November, I hope we see some pictures of the puppies when they arrive. Tell your Mummy she must wear a helmet when she rides Strider.
When you see daddie don't forget, hand on hip and say Hello Sailor!

Hi, I found your website through Dixie Hirsch's site. I am getting a puppy from her last litter, so I am always on her site scanning for pictures. Anyhow, I just love your website, and your dogs are just gorgeous. I can't wait to get my pup, and I will enter it on your pix of the month. Great, great site. Thanks for doing such a good job.
Greetings from Alaska, Angelika Lynch

Hi again Helen and Jon, we enjoyed conversing with you and your dogs today.  Your web site is very well constructed and also very informative. Thanks for letting us take some nice photos of you folks and the dogs.  Hope to see you and the dogs again on your walks.

I just wanted to say how much I enjoy your website. It's entertaining even for those who don't own dogs. Very clever website. Balin and Kili, you know I love you both but I must admit that I am looking forward to meeting Buffy the new edition to the family. Give her lots of love. You guys take care and I will see you in July.

Kami Miglio, St. Paul MN

I saw your link on Dixie's page and was really amazed to see that your "family" of champions is named "Rohan". This is my youngest son's name; my husband and I are big LOTR fans and coincidentally, rohan is "red" in Irish. Your web page is just incredible and full of fantastic photos, into and obvious passion for the breed! Thanks!

Ana Warner, Carmel, CA

Great Site Helen!  You have so much information and energy in your site.  It is really fun to go from section to section and be entertained as you are being informed!  It really shows your passion for your dogs.  Keep up the good work.

Robert Macksam & family -Wisconsin

Your website is wonderful! I gained so much information about this great breed. We are carefully considering an Irish Wolfhound addition to our family. Are we too late to be considered for a June puppy?  For many years, we have read about the Irish Wolfhound and admired this gentle dog. We have attended nearby dog shows just to see them. We are now at a time in our life when we have the time and the resources to give the needed attention  to this dear pet.  I hope to hear from you.

Sincerely, Pat Horne

Hi Helen,  Greetings from Omaha where live Pat & Sharon and young 'James Connolloy Ryan'.  James is almost 2yrs. and quite large like Harry Potter.  Found your site through our dear friends at Bribiba and Torteval.  I have a son in Tampa and he admires our IW.  Wonderful lads at your site.

Pat Ryan

Just loved the Gentlemans Club and Lady Bugs, keep up the good work, very entertaining.  I even baked Balin’s favorite cookies for my dog last night, they were a great hit!

Regards, Michelle, Glen Wood Springs, Colorado

I think your site is excellent, I have enjoyed looking at it every evening since finding it by accident. We don’t even have a dog, but it sure makes me wish we did.  You seem to have so much fun with yours.  Thanks for sharing!

Hanna, James Town, North Dakota

Loved your  pictures. I too have  a " Dixie Dog" who loves to swim in the ocean. I live in Boston. I would love to see your dogs next time I'm in Florida. I hope a  second Wolfhound will be in my family someday.  Your dogs are so beautiful !

Dear Helen

I so very much enjoy your web site and always look forward to reading what you post.  Good reading.  Good fun.  And great photos of Irish Wolfhounds.  It is so nice to be able to communicate with other lovers of the breed.  I almost cried laughing over Balin and his column.  What a hoot- especially after a "ruff" day.  As the mother of Magic, I can tell you he misses his brothers and their ruffian friends.  AND HOPES THEY ALL VISIT SOON.  Enough about your wonderful web site.  Thanks so much for sharing with all of us!!  Lots of Love from Carole and Wet Sloppy Kisses from Magic

Great photo gallery!  The kids love it.  Can't wait to see the doggies again.

A big hearty Minnesotan hi to our friends Balin and Kili from Cedric and Eli in Minnesota. We were thinking about you today - we got a lot of wet heavy snow - makes for excellent dog snogs, which we send you too.
Your website is lovely and we are enjoying watching you romp with your new friends in the sun, as we romp in the snow.
We'll stay in touch - take care
Love, Cedric & Eli

Dear Helen,  The dogs are just gorgeous and they look as if they have loads of fun. Heard lots about your devotion to your dogs and I wish you all the love in the world. Can't believe that a little thing like you could be seen taking them for walkies.  Lovely to see a website with so many pictures. Gives me an insight into what you are up to.

See you soon (I hope)

Loads of love Theresa, England

What a great site, full of information and great photos of two very gorgeous doggies too. We love the new lady bugs page and look forward to it expanding in the future. Good luck with it all, can't wait for babies to arrive.

Dear Balin and Kili (mum and dad too!!!)

Although I've never met you both, (my mum and dad do not stop talking about you, or your mom and dad) so I feel I've known you all my life!!  Your website is very interesting and dog friendly, even though I'm a German Shepherd, I enjoy looking at your website, as often as possible (when I can get my mum off the computer that is!!!), I especially enjoy the photo gallery, where I can eye up some of the good looking females.  Balin you're one lucky guy!

I just have to say... Well done! I can tell you have spent tons of time perfecting this site. It is smart, humorous, informative... and oh the pictures. You are a talented person I have to say! I will check back often to see more pictures of the family! Maybe you can post one of us with Balin and Kili when we come to visit???

Have a great day! And keep up the good work.

Sincerely, Mary

Dear Balin & Kili.......Our mom loves your site (the human-type people call her Roxanne)....but she's just Mom to us. Kili, we hope you don't mind too much, but we think Balin is really handsome....but we think you're really pretty too. We hope that you get us a Lady's Club started real soon Kili!  Us girls need to have a say in things too! We think it's just great to visit your site and share all of the fun stuff. Sounds like you have great humans that really care about all of us Irish Wolfhounds! We've become regular visitors (well, we watch over Mom's shoulder a lot), cuz she's on there a bunch.
Best of wishes......Ebby and Derry (And Mom asks that we wish you well too!)

Florida, USA

Kili & Balin (& mum as well!)  We love your website. Every day we visit to see what's new & we're always pleased when we find it! Duncan enjoys looking at photographs (especially the pretty girls) & eagerly awaits new replies in Balin's Gentleman's Club. Indie is obsessed with the puppy sections - I guess he's preparing for the inevitable new sibling. Sophie keeps her eye on Kili's page & is eagerly following her upcoming pregnancy. She LOVES babies. I, on the other hand, enjoy it all. It's an extremely comprehensive, well organized, informative site that manages to be highly entertaining & "human" as well. Nicely done!
